This IDAHOBIT, we Stand Up Against Hate Crime

Today we mark IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia.

Chair of LGBTIQA+ Greens, Aimee Challenor.

At a time when we’re seeing horrific abuses every day across the world, it is important to make sure we stand up for what matters, and fight for a future that is free and equal.

The Green Party stands up for LGBTIQA+ rights:

LGBTIQA+ Greens - proud of our diversity

LGBTIQA+ people are facing violence, persecution and intimidation because of their gender identity, sexuality or intersex status. It has to stop.

The Green Party has a long history of standing up for LGBTIQA+ rights, and we fighting stronger than ever before. Just the other week I had the pleasure of launching our LGBTIQA+ manifesto with Green Party Co-Leader, Jonathan Bartley.

Let’s be clear. We aren’t just talking about stigma, shame and embarrassment. We aren’t talking about political correctness and generation snowflake. We are talking about people dying.

People are dying because of our borders.  People are dying because of our healthcare system is letting us down.  People are dying because they do not have equal rights.

When it comes to tackling Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia in everyday life, make no mistake, we will combat it. We will combat all forms of anti-LGBTIQA+ prejudice and violence through improved hate crime protections.

The Green Party would ensure that no LGBTIQA+ person faces discrimination, violence or unequal treatment.
