Greens offer sympathy and support following death of Lily Jane Summers

The committee of LGBTIQA+ Greens wishes to pass our sympathy and support to the Family of Lily Jane Summers, a prospective Labour candidate in Swansea. We also send our sympathy to her local party and LGBT Labour.

Lily was a notable student campaigner, and campaigner for trans rights, she also helped create the @BritainElects twitter account. Despite our party difference she had friends in the Greens and some of our members saw her as someone to aspire to.

Our co-founder @MissLilySummers, has sadly passed. She was a truly wonderful friend, always passionate and so integral to BE. I’ll miss her.— Britain Elects (@britainelects) December 19, 2016

@SwanseaLabour – sympathies on your loss. I’d not met Lily or heard of her, but politics needs diversity & younger folk.— Talis Kimberley-F (@taliskimberley) December 19, 2016

Sad to hear about death of Lily Summers. Diverse voices needed in Politics, Lily would’ve been great. Thoughts with family & @SwanseaLabour.— Aimee Challenor (@GPEWAimee) December 20, 2016

We also take this time to condemn the abuse that her family and friends have received since the news of her death was released, no one should face such abuse, especially not whilst they’re mourning.
